Lyrics

The Lord is my shepherd – I shall not want
He lets me lie down where the grass is soft
He restores my soul
He restores my soul

Though I walk through the valley I will not be afraid
Though I walk through the valley I will not be afraid
I will walk through the valley and I will not be afraid

You lay a table before me – In the presence of those
Who would hate and destroy me – You lift me up
And You restore my soul
You restore my soul

Surely goodness – Surely mercy will follow me all of the days of my life
Surely goodness – Surely mercy will follow me all of the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
Dwell in the house of the Lord
I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
Dwell in the house of the Lord

Musician Business Cards

A few days ago I got a long rectangular box. That could only mean one thing – 1000 new business cards! Here’s my new card look:

I got these from GotPrint. They are pretty cheap (I guess – I’m no expert in business card prices, ha). I paid around $20 for 1000 cards. About half of that was shipping, too.

As you can see with my design choices – I went for a very clean/minimal front and a portrait view on the back with all the important info.

One note about these cards. I’ve purchased cards from them before in the standard glossy finish. When you go with glossy, it’s really hard to write on them – in case you need to add a note or something. I selected the matte finish with these, and I really like it. It’s smooth and easy to write on in both pen and pencil.

Any of you indie musicians out there have business cards? If so, let’s hear some creative ways you use them in the comments. I’m all ears :)

Check out my interview over at How To Write A Song HQ

Matthew Casteel and company run an awesome site called How To Write A Song HQ. They give all kinds of great advice on songwriting. One thing Matthew does is a weekly podcast. Sometimes he’ll interview songwriters to get their take on songwriting.

I was extremely excited when Matthew asked if he could interview me. The interview is up on the site now. Head over to How To Write A Song HQ to listen to my interview. I also played a few original songs.

You can also subscribe to the Podcast on iTunes.

Thanks for the awesome opportunity, Matthew!

NoiseTrade – Tools for Indie Musicians

In my Tools for Indie musicians series (hit the link to see all the posts), I’ve covered 3 different ways to get your music out there. CD Baby and TuneCore both distribute your music to iTunes, Amazon, and the like. BandCamp lets you set up a storefront and sell stuff (or give it away) on your terms. This post is all about NoiseTrade, which is yet another venue for digitally releasing your music.

Visit NoiseTrade.com

I think NoiseTrade is special. It has something the others don’t. At least that’s been my experience. That something special is the exposure factor. For me, no online service or marketing tool has been as successful as NoiseTrade, except maybe for YouTube.

First let’s talk about how the service works, and then I’ll dive into exactly how I use it.

Ustream Acoustic Concert Series

Between leading worship every weekend and regular youth events, I don’t get a ton of opportunities to play live. Well, that’s all going to change. Today I’m performing my first Ustream acoustic concert!

I’m going live at 6:00p Eastern. I’ll play for 30 or 45 minutes – maybe longer if there is some good viewer interaction. You’ll be able to interact using Twitter, Facebook, or the Ustream chat client.

Scheduling

Mondays at 6:00p EST.

My goal is to do these regularly. I’m going to start out with a weekly schedule. Every Monday at 6 eastern.

Where to watch

You’ll be able to watch right here at Brian Wahl Music at the Live page.

I’ll also be live at my Ustream page, or on Facebook.

My interview at the Scripture to Music Collective

You’ve heard me talk about the Scripture To Music collective around here before. If not – definitely go check it out. The site is run by Caroline Cobb and it is an awesome resource of Biblical songs. I’ve got a few songs featured over there as well.

Just a few weeks ago, Caroline interviewed me for the site.

Click here to read the interview.

I shared a bit about my songwriting process, my favorite songwriters, and more.
