Ustream Acoustic Concert Series

Between leading worship every weekend and regular youth events, I don’t get a ton of opportunities to play live. Well, that’s all going to change. Today I’m performing my first Ustream acoustic concert!

I’m going live at 6:00p Eastern. I’ll play for 30 or 45 minutes – maybe longer if there is some good viewer interaction. You’ll be able to interact using Twitter, Facebook, or the Ustream chat client.

Scheduling

Mondays at 6:00p EST.

My goal is to do these regularly. I’m going to start out with a weekly schedule. Every Monday at 6 eastern.

Where to watch

You’ll be able to watch right here at Brian Wahl Music at the Live page.

I’ll also be live at my Ustream page, or on Facebook.

Open Mic Night at Loco Lu’s with Alastair Vance

Tonight Alastair Vance and I played a few songs at Loco Lu’s Coffeehouse at their weekly open mic night. We had a good time! Lu had a great turnout – we got to hear some really talented musicians.

Here are the songs I played:

Set 1:

I played toward the end, so they asked if anybody wanted to play a few more songs. So, my 2nd set was:

Alastair did an awesome cover of Perfect by Pink.

Hope Cafe Gig – June 4 – Set List

We had a great time at the Hope Cafe gig last week! We had a full band for about half the gig. The band consisted of musicians from the worship band at church. They were:

  • Justin – Lead guitar
  • Terry – Drums
  • Dominic – Bass
  • Mike – Keys
  • Me – acoustic guitar/vocals

Photos:

We played a lot of worship stuff, originals, and a few covers. I did “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees. What a great song! It was a lot of fun to play, and I heard some good feedback about it from the audience. We took a break about half-way through, and I took some time to go around and talk with people in the audience – it was a lot of fun to connect with people that way. We even sang “Happy Birthday” to somebody who happened to be there on her birthday.

Here’s the set list. Hit links to view videos of me performing the songs.

Open Mic Nights Are Fun

Alastair Vance (@alastairvance) and I took part in an open mic night yesterday at Amazing Tone Music in Raleigh. Man, you never know what you’re going to get with an open mic night.

Musical style and performance were all over the board, which I think is pretty cool. We heard everything from folk and jazz to rap/rock and metal to country. Even a song about house pets and another about Barney the Purple Dinosaur (the song was titled “Barney is a Purple Dinosaur”). Catch a clip of the Barney song here.

Alastair and I were kind of toward the end. Alastair started off with “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley (and quite a nice interpretation of it, I might add). He finished with a traditional Irish song which was really cool. I hadn’t heard it before. As usual, his performance was right on – sounded great. You should check out his music either on his YouTube page or on his blog. Follow Alastair on Twitter here.

I went up after Alastair and started off with “Seasons”, which is an original of mine. I followed with an Irish tune of my own – “Mysterious Ways” by U2. OK, so maybe U2′s songs can’t be considered “Irish”.

It was a lot of fun. Alastair and I are going to try and hit this open mic night on a semi-regular basis, so stay tuned for the next time we’re there and come hang out with us!

Here are some photos I took during the evening for your enjoyment:
